Akin Gump has hired a former Pricoa Private Capital executive as a finance partner specialising in debt finance.
Michael Gustafson has joined Akin Gump as a partner after being deputy chief legal officer for Europe at Pricoa, the private debt investment arm of Prudential Financial.
Before joining Pricoa in 2013 he worked in the London office of Bingham McCutchen as a partner.
Gustafson has experience in institutional private placement transactions, direct lending and financial restructuring. He also has experience working across mid-market credit, risk capital and unitranche financing.
At Akin Gump he will focus on debt finance transactions for institutional lenders alongside former Bingham colleagues who joined the firm in 2018.
“[Gustafson’s] market knowledge of, and experience with, high-end finance work is a perfect fit for our London practice,” commented Akin Gump chairwoman Kim Koopersmith. “He adds real depth, as he not only knows the team, the clients and the market, but he has a huge amount of experience with this type of work.”
