Apera Capital, the London-based fund manager which commenced operations towards the end of last year, has hired Franklin Henrot and Chris Roper as associates in its investment team.
Henrot will focus on credit opportunities in France, with Apera have recently opened a new Paris office.
He joins from Avenue Capital Group, where he focused on the firm’s direct lending strategy, which has around $1 billion under management and invests in European mid-market companies. Prior to that, he was an analyst in the financial restructuring team at investment bank Houlihan Lokey.
Roper, who will be dedicated to the UK market, joins from the Bank of Ireland, where he was part of the leveraged acquisition finance team which originates, structures and executes sponsor-backed mid-market transactions across Europe.
He worked on deals including Astorg’s acquisition of sound equipment firm Audiotonix and EQT’s acquisition of Independent Vetcare, the veterinary practice group.
Apera was founded last year by Klaus Petersen, Robert Shaw, David Wilmot and Joanna Hislop. Petersen was a former partner at BlueBay Asset Management.
The firm, which is currently preparing the launch of its first fund, will focus on mid-market debt investment in the UK, the DACH region, the Nordics, France and Benelux.
Having opened in Paris, the firm is also now looking to do the same in Munich.
