CVC hires Lloyds veteran ahead of European lending push

Neale Broadhead will focus on originating and executing European mid-market lending deals, the firm said.

CVC Credit Partners has hired Neale Broadhead as a managing director and portfolio manager.

Broadhead joins from LLodys, where he had worked since 2004. At Lloyds, he was taksed with building the bank’s mid-market origination team, and helped to grow the platform into one of the leading arrangers and underwriters of mid-market leveraged buyouts in the UK and continental Europe.

At CVC, he will report to head of private funds Tom Newberry. He will focus on the origination and execution of European mid-market lending opportunities in support of the build out of CVC Credit Partners’ private debt business in Europe.

In a recent interview with Private Debt Investor, Newberry revealed the firm was looking to launch a European mid-market lending product in the future. “In a business where origination can be the difference between good and bad performance, I think we’re very well position and have had very good reverse enquiry from investors. Without being too specific, mid-market lending is certainly something we’ll pursue in the future,” he said.

On Broadhead’s appointment, Newberry commented in a statement: “Having established and led successful leveraged finance teams at top tier firms in both London and New York, he provides valuable expertise and extensive relationships to our growing platform.”
