Hire round-ups: HarbourVest, Benefit Street and Crayhill

PDI looks at a few of the recent personnel moves from around the private credit industry.

HarbourVest Partners

HarbourVest Partners has grown its credit team with the hire of Karen Simone, formerly a managing director at TCW Direct Lending, who is joining Boston-based HarbourVest as a managing director where she will focus mainly on the alternative lender’s senior debt investments.

It is the firm’s second credit hire in recent weeks; at the end of last month, the credit manager hired Bain Capital Credit veteran Jamie Athanasoulas to further build out its credit platform, which closed its first dedicated fund in April of last year – the $375 million Mezzanine Income Fund I.

Benefit Street Partners

Benefit Street Partners has hired a pair of managing directors to its origination team. Stephen Sachman, a former managing director at BlackRock where he worked on direct lending, will be in the firm’s New York office. Meanwhile, Patrick White, formerly Monroe Capital’s co-head of technology, will join Benefit Street’s new San Francisco office.

Crayhill Capital Management

Crayhill Capital Management has brought on Stefan Hoefer as a managing director – a position in which he will focus on sourcing, underwriting, structuring, executing and managing private credit investments, according to a statement.

Previously, Hoefer worked at BBT Capital Partners (now Five Points Capital), a lower mid-market private equity and mezzanine debt investment firm. Before that, he worked as a senior analyst in Magnetar Capital’s event-driven credit group.
