Hire wrap-up: Alcentra, CIFC, BNP Paribas and Angelo Gordon

Four firms have made recent additions to their senior management personnel.


Alcentra has hired Leland Hart, formerly the head of loans and CLOs at BlackRock Asset Management, as head of US loans and high yield products. Hart, who will report to global co-chief investment officer Vijay Rajguru, will oversee the London-based firm’s 16-person investment and research teams in both New York and Boston.

Alcentra also announced that its business development company, Alcentra Capital Corporation, has appointed a new chairman. Paul Hatfield, the firm’s global co-chief investment officer, has replaced Paul Echausse, who left the firm to work on a “new initiative” involving charities.


CIFC has added Jay Huang, formerly of Citigroup Global Markets, to its staff as head of structured product investments. In his new role, he will oversee the firm’s various structured products. While at Citigroup, he was a managing director and global head of CLO, CDO and distressed SIV trading.

“The product set will be initially focused on CLOs and with the ultimate goal of expanding to other structured product asset classes when we recognise value for our clients,” Huang said in an email. He will focus on building the structured products’ investment team and business infrastructure as well as determining the overall strategy for the structured products’ mandate.

BNP Paribas Asset Management

BNP Paribas Asset Management has also hired to fill a role overseeing its structured products. The French investment bank brought on Michael Fryszman as head of structured finance, a role in which he will report to Laurent Gueunier, head of real assets, SME lending and structured finance. At BNP, Fryszman, who is formerly of AXA Investment Managers, will be based in Paris and oversee various initiatives, including the firm’s European private securitisation strategy and its specialty finance assets.

Angelo Gordon

Angelo, Gordon has hired a GSO senior managing director as its global head of distressed debt. Ryan Mollett has joined from the Blackstone credit arm, where he was a senior member of the global distressed investment team as well as a portfolio manager and investment committee member for various GSO funds.
