Liberty Mutual agrees to purchase $5bn of consumer loans

The blockbuster capital partnership is the third of its kind in the last two months.

Liberty Mutual Investments, the investment arm of Liberty Mutual Group of Insurance Companies, will agree to buy a total of $5 billion of consumer loans from buy-now-pay-later fintech company Affirm. Terms weren’t disclosed.

A long-term partnership between the two companies began in 2019, and the loan purchase program started in 2023.
