Man GLG expands EM debt team

The new emerging markets debt team will invest in hard currency, local currency and opportunistic strategies across the emerging markets.

Man GLG, the discretionary investment management business of Man Group plc, has announced five new hires for its newly established Emerging Market Debt Team.

Phil Yuhn, Jose Wynne, Lisa Chua, Ehsan Bashi and Maria do Carmo Cal have joined the team as senior investment professionals working under Guillermo Ossés, the head of Emerging Markets Debt Strategies.

Together they bring a vast amount of experience and expertise to Man GLG’s Emerging Markets Debt team and demonstrate the commitment that we have made as a firm to developing an outstanding proposition for clients in this asset class,” said Teun Johnston, Co-CEO of Man GLG.

Yuhn joins Man GLG as a portfolio manager based in New York. He was previously a portfolio manager at American Century Investments, and prior to that worked alongside Ossés as a senior portfolio manager at HSBC Global Asset Management.

Wynne joins as a portfolio manager based in New York. He joins from Barclays where he was managing director, head of FX Research. Prior to this he worked within the North America FX strategy team as well as spending time as a senior emerging markets strategist.

Chua joins as a portfolio manager based in New York. She was a senior vice president and portfolio manager at the emerging markets debt team at HSBC, also working alongside Ossés.

Bashi joins as a portfolio engineer based in New York. He was previously a manager at KPMG, advising clients on risk management-related matters, having also worked at Societe Generale and PIMCO.

do Carmo Cal joins as a product specialist, based in London. She was previously a managing director and head of capital markets at Banco Itaú BBA International, leading the development of the bank’s debt syndicate offering. Prior to that, she led the bank’s fixed income division including sales, trading, loan syndication and credit research.

The team manages three distinct strategies on hard currency, local currency and opportunistic strategies, investing in the entire emerging markets debt space.
