MFPRSI to introduce private credit to portfolio

The US public pension has confirmed plans to launch a specific private credit asset class within its investment portfolio.

Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa has approved the introduction of private credit to its portfolio offering, according to minutes from the pension’s April 2020 board of trustees meeting.

MFPRSI’s private credit allocation will comprise of an initial two percent of its investment portfolio, with managers Golub Capital Partners and Monroe Capital handed mandates to oversee one percent apiece.

The $2.42 billion US public pension currently allocates 35.90 percent of its portfolio to alternatives.
