Northern Trust hires head of fixed income trading

Joseph Gillingwater joins Northern Trust from State Street to lead the business of fixed income securities lending trading for the company.

Northern Trust has appointed Joseph Gillingwater as head of fixed income securities lending trading for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC).

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Gillingwater was a senior portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors where he was responsible for the management of securities lending investments.

“His knowledge and expertise will be valuable as we continue to expand our team, product offering and global reach to help securities lending clients extract optimum value from their securities,” commented Sunil Daswani, head of securities lending in EMEA and APAC.

In his new role, Gillingwater will be based in London and responsible for all aspects of fixed income trading strategy. He reports to John Irwin, head of international trading in EMEA & APAC.
