PDI Global Awards: Let’s hear from you!

It’s that time of the year again, when the spotlight falls upon those perceived to be leading the charge as private debt sees unprecedented growth.

Starting today, we will be researching and compiling shortlists of nominations for around 50 categories included in our 2017 awards, the industry’s highest-profile accolades.

The awards recognise the achievements of the people and organisations that helped write the industry’s biggest stories during a year in which the private debt asset class has scaled new heights, easily surpassing previous fundraising peaks.

Voting starts at the turn of this month and we will be back in touch to alert you to where to register your votes. The winners will be announced next March.

In the meantime, as has become customary for us, we invite you to submit nomination suggestions via a DEDICATED FORM HERE. You have two weeks to get your nominations back to us, so that’s Thursday 16 November at the latest please.

The process through which our winners earn their places is rigorous and fair. As every year, nominees are selected via a lengthy process that involves poring over research. Senior team members from PDI and parent company PEI then consult industry leaders on the way to constructing an impartial shortlist.

Please note that submissions are not prerequisites or guarantees for inclusion in the nominations process. PDI’s editorial team will include them in the mix alongside our own considerations before determining four nominations per category. There will also be a fifth, blank category available for firms and individuals not nominated.

So without further ado, we officially declare the 2017 PDI Global Awards process underway!

CRITERIA AND NOTES

The award nomination criteria is based on the development, growth and performance of the given investment or advisory firm. These include fundraising, investment performance, notable transactions closed or unique deal structuring, and key senior hires. While size and scale may be taken into consideration, it will not be the sole determinant, particularly if a novel or fresh approach is in place. Please keep any nominations brief, i.e. bullet points or short paragraphs rather than a 2017 manifesto.

Submissions can be made for multiple categories as well as multiple jurisdictions. As an example, a mid-market lender specialising in senior debt with a presence in the US and Europe could submit nominations for Lender of the Year and Senior Lender of the Year in both the Americas and Europe regions.

Also, submissions must be made for the jurisdiction in which the activity took place. For example, a Hong Kong-based placement agent that raises a fund in Europe would submit a nomination for Placement Agent of the Year in the Europe category, or a New York-headquartered general partner that closes a private equity-backed deal in Beijing would submit a nomination for Deal of the Year in the Asia-Pacific category.
