Private Debt Investor's fundraising numbers reveal that $12.26 billion was raised from 23 closed-end private debt funds that held final closes in Q1 2015, a huge drop from the $75.55 billion raised in 2014.
In this first ever PDI Research & Analytics Quarterly Review, we analyse the current private debt market and provide insight into how the asset class has developed since the financial crisis. This analysis highlights the year-on-year increase in capital raised by closed-end funds up to and including 2013, with a subsequent downturn in 2014.
The European lending space continues to gain strength following two year-on-year post-crisis highs in 2013 and 2014, as can be seen in our Region in Focus section on page 7.
Also in this review, Richard von Gusovius, principal at the independent advisory firm Campbell Lutyens, offers his views on the current state of the private debt market and explains how he thinks the future will pan out for the asset class.
