The emerging private markets landscape sees the largest managers fighting for wealth capital, further enforcing their dominance over capital raising.

One claim made at this week’s NEXUS 2025 event in Florida was that the tectonic plates were shifting in private markets. It’s an observation that did not go unchallenged, however. In an onstage conversation (see below) with PEI Group’s editorial director, Philip Borel, TPG chief executive officer Jon Winkelried said this described a slow process – what he saw instead was a grinding together of those plates, resulting in volatility and rapid change.
