AIG continues London hiring push

AIG Global Investment Group hires two into European leveraged loan group

AIG Global Investment Group, the asset management arm of the US insurer, has made two hires into its European leveraged loan group, as it continues to build its presence in private equity and leveraged finance.

The group, which closed its first €383 million ($495 million) managed CLO fund in September last year, has hired Margarita Sabarny, formerly of Morgan Stanley, as a credit analyst, and Rebecca Reeve, who was previously with ABN AMRO, as a business analyst. The hires take the European team to six people.

AIG GIG only launched the European arm of its global leveraged loan group last year, recruiting Simon Hillard from Canadian bank CIBC to build the team. The group also employs about 25 people in its Los Angeles office.

Last June, AIG GIG also hired Rhonda Ryan from Insight Investment, the asset management arm of HBOS, to run its European private equity fund-of-funds operation in London. Internationally, the fund-of-funds group manages more than $7 billion (€5.4 billion) of commitments.
