Brett Hinton, formerly of THL Credit, has joined The Carlyle Group as a private credit specialist and managing director after two-and-a-half years at his old firm.
At the Washington, DC-based firm, he will be responsible for business and product development and oversee the firm’s strategic programmes, as well as being actively involved in capital raising for funds and co-investments, according to his LinkedIn profile.
While at THL Credit, he oversaw the Boston-based firm’s business development and had mandates similar to his duties at Carlyle. Prior to that he worked at Fortress Investment Group, InterContinental Hotels Group, Genesis Capital and UBS, his profile showed.
A Carlyle spokesman could not be reached for comment.
The hire comes after a string of senior additions to its credit team over the past year. These included Mark Jenkins, formerly of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, as head of global credit; Ben Schryber, previously at First Avenue Partners, as a managing director involved in the firm’s credit sales; and Alex Popov, formerly of HPS Investments, as head of its credit opportunities team. Craig Farr, former global head of capital markets and credit at KKR, also joined as a senior advisor.
