Growth capital firm Columbia Lake Partners (CLP) hired Joyce Liu as a senior associate in March, PDI has learnt.
Expanding the London-based team, Liu will be responsible for financial analysis, structuring, documentation and management of debt relationships with technology companies.
Previously, Liu was an associate at the private debt arm of Ares Management in Los Angeles, where she worked for two years. Liu was also an analyst in the leveraged finance team at JP Morgan in New York for three years.
Just prior to joining CLP, Liu worked for six months as a data scientist at London seed-stage eCommerce company TRULY Experiences.
“I’m thrilled to be part of a fast-growing, nimble team that partners with equity investors to support the technology ecosystem. There are very few European venture debt providers and limited information about growth loans as a result. We want to change this. We collaborate closely with VCs and make the fundraising process simple and transparent for disruptive companies,” Liu said in an email statement to PDI.
CLP raised $25 million in late 2014. Board members include partners at Bessemer Venture Partners Felda Hardymon and Brian Feinstein, as well as Wayne Goldstein from Endicott Group.
The firm is led by founding partner Craig Netterfield. Previously, Netterfield was a partner at Wellington Financial, providing growth capital loans to technology firms based in Canada and the US. CLP hired Donatella Callegaris as a director last year. Prior to joining, she spent seven years working at Kreos Capital. Ed Salmon, formerly of Silicon Valley Bank, is the team's chief financial officer.
CLP provides growth loans of between £500,000 and £3 million / €4 million to venture capital-backed European start-ups. It will partner with Silicon Valley Bank to write larger cheques, according to its website.
