Muzinich boosts Italian team

The private debt provider has hired a former director from BlackRock.

Corporate credit specialist Muzinich & Co has hired Francesca Campanelli, according to a statement.

Campanelli was previously a director at BlackRock in Italy. She also has several years of portfolio management experience with Allianz Global Investors.

Muzinich, which entered the Italian market in 2000, now has an eight-strong investment and marketing team based in Milan. “The senior appointment is another sign of our long-standing commitment to growing our Italian presence,” Ersilia Molnar, managing director of Muzinich, said.

Campanelli added: “Italian investors like low-volatility, strong income generating fixed income products. In addition, the firm’s private debt initiative will help meet a huge need for capital within the country’s flourishing entrepreneurial SME market.”

Muzinich held a second close on its Italian Private Debt Fund on €200 million in April. A final close is anticipated in September this year.

The New York-headquartered firm manages $24.3 billion as of 30 April 2015. It also has offices in London, Cologne, Paris, Zurich, Milan and Madrid.

The firm has a number of other European debt funds in market including the Iberian Private Debt Fund and a UK private debt fund.
