When we launched our annual awards poll in early December, we pondered whether we might surpass the record votes haul of just over 4,000 that we received for our 2017 version. But we could not have envisaged that, with one week remaining until voting ceases at midnight PST Friday 11 January 2019, the total would already be almost 6,000.

Please don’t think that it’s too late to make much of a difference. Admittedly, in some categories, gaps have widened and it’s becoming increasingly evident who the winners will be. But there are still plenty of very close contests.
One is the Europe Lender award where very little separates Ares Management, Hayfin Capital Management, Kartesia and Tikehau Capital. Another is the race for Global Fund Manager, with a tight four-way battle between Alcentra, Apollo Global Management, Ares Management and GSO Capital Partners.
