US-based investor Adams Street Partners has launched a European private credit strategy.
To support its expansion into the European market, the firm has hired James Charalambides as partner and head of the European private credit team. He will take responsibility for leading the firm’s private credit efforts in Europe and support sourcing, structuring, reviewing and negotiating deals. He will report to Adams Street’s head of private credit, Bill Sacher.
Prior to joining Adams Street, Charalambides was a managing director within the specialty lending team at Sixth Street Partners where he handled origination, execution, portfolio monitoring and managing deal terms. He has also held roles at Candlewick Asset Management and Walgreens Boots Alliance.
Commenting on the launch of the new strategy, Sacher said: “Europe is fertile ground for sponsor-backed private credit deals. We anticipate James will leverage Adams Street’s comprehensive credit offerings to expand our differentiated and proprietary deal sourcing capabilities.”
Initially the European credit strategy will be investing funds raised for the firm’s Private Credit II vehicle but there are plans to launch dedicated European credit funds in the future.
The European team will also expand to support Charalambides both in London and in other locations around Europe.
