Angelo Gordon has hired Michiel von Saher from PGIM as a managing director in its performing credit team in London.
He joins the team after 14 years at PGIM, where he was most recently managing director and head of the European credit research team at PGIM Fixed Income. Before joining PGIM in 2005 he spent six years at NIBC, ultimately rising to head of its intermediate capital group focused on subordinated and mezzanine debt facilities for European mid-market MBOs.
The hire brings the size of Angelo Gordon’s performing credit team to 13, with four based in the UK. In the role, von Saher will work alongside managing director and portfolio manager Steven Paget, who joined the firm last year to build its European performing credit business.
Maureen D’Alleva, global head of performing credit at Angelo Gordon, said: “[von Saher’s] deep knowledge of European credit markets and extensive experience developing and running research teams will support our ongoing international expansion.”
“Michiel’s consistent focus on investment performance and demonstrated ability to manage through the cycle, coupled with his wide professional network in the European leveraged loan and CLO markets, will improve our ability to identify and capitalise on attractive international investment opportunities and create value for our investors around the globe.”
The Angelo Gordon performing credit platform manages approximately $6.1 billion of assets and has raised $3.6 billion since 2017 across seven CLOs. It focuses on investing in predominantly non-investment grade credit instruments in North America and Europe.
