BNP Paribas appoints Fryszman to head structured finance

The latest hire will further grow the asset manager’s private debt operation, which was merged with its real assets group last year.

BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has hired Michel Fryszman as head of structured finance to grow its private debt and real assets team.

Fryszman will take responsibility for managing the firm’s structured finance team which has now expanded to five professionals. He will oversee the design and implementation of European private securitisation strategies and speciality finance assets.

He has experience across mortgage finance, asset management and securitisation and joins BNPP AM from AXA Investment Managers where he worked since 2005. At AXA he was initially an asset-backed security portfolio manager before becoming head of asset-backed security investments in 2008. He then became head of mortgages and speciality finance in 2014.

Prior to joining AXA, Fryszman spent time as a securitisation specialist at Groupe GTI and as a portfolio manager at Crédit Foncier.

Laurent Guenunier, head of real assets, SME lending and structured finance at BNPP AM, said: “[Fryszman] has considerable industry experience covering a range of areas within structured finance and his securitisation expertise will be invaluable as we expand our capabilities in this area of the market.”

BNPP AM ‘s private debt and real assets investment group was established in 2017 and manages a total of €7.7 billion, including €1 billion of European securitisation funds.
