Bodenheim leaves bfinance to head alternative credit at NN IP

The move is part of NN IP’s aim to grow its alternative credit capabilities, which already amount to €40bn of assets.

Niels Bodenheim is to join NN Investment Partners as head of alternative credit in the new year.

He joins NN IP from bfinance where he has spent the past three and a half years as senior director of private markets. He was responsible for bfinance’s private debt activities, including overseeing credit research in direct lending, real estate and infrastructure.

Before joining bfinance, Bodenheim spent 14 years at GE in various roles across the company’s financial services businesses in both the UK and the US.

He will be responsible for overseeing NN IP’s alternative credit platform, which consists of investments in corporate debt, residential mortgages, commercial real estate lending, government debt and infrastructure debt. The platform has €40 billion of assets under management.

He will report to chief investment officer Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, who said: “Alternative credit is one of our core capabilities as an asset manager, with a strong proposition to bring to our clients. Niels’ appointment further solidifies our commitment to growing our alternative credit capability. Niels is an energetic and motivated leader who is capable of driving the existing creativity within the team towards client-oriented solutions.”
