Cockell replaces Bosson at RBS

Steve Cockell has been promoted to take responsibility for origination within RBS’ London-based financial sponsor team.

Cockell takes on the role in addition to his current position as head of sponsor coverage. He replaced Paul Bosson, who has retired after 40 years at the bank, RBS said in a statement on Tuesday.

Cockell joined RBS in 2003, working his way through the financial institutions group and regional teams before joining the financial sponsor coverage group in London in 2011.

RBS’ financial sponsor team in London is 22 strong, within an overall UK group of 60. To date, it has worked on 40 completed private equity deals.

RBS is also understood to be close to finalising partnerships with three private debt funds.
