Private debt has so far failed to make a major breakthrough in emerging markets regions of the world, according to stats from the PDI LP Survey.
When asked which regions they were looking to invest in across various alternative asset classes, private debt investment is set to remain heavily focused on North America and Western Europe.
While all asset classes favour the safer developed markets, private debt is notably lagging behind in attracting investment in the Asia-Pacific region. By contrast, Asia-Pacific has almost reached the same level of popularity as western Europe and North America for private equity investment.
It also has much lower levels of investment in Eastern Europe than other alternative asset classes and only beats private real estate in the MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa regions.
