DLA Piper names new finance partner

Andy Kolacki has left Latham & Watkins to join the debt finance team at law firm DLA Piper.

DLA Piper has appointed Andy Kolacki as a partner in the London debt finance team, the law firm said.

Kolacki will be part of the finance and projects group. He joins from Latham & Watkins, where in 2009 he was promoted to partner. He joined in 2005 as an associate. Previously, Kolacki worked as an associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for five years.

Kolacki has experience acting for lenders, private equity sponsors and borrowers in connection with domestic and international acquisitions, leveraged financings and restructurings.

His practice includes both senior and subordinated capital structures including second lien and mezzanine. His particular expertise relates to bank / bond financings and transatlantic financings using US term loan B style structures.

David Miles, London head of debt finance at DLA Piper, said: “Andy is an impressive debt finance lawyer who will add bench strength to our team at a time when the markets are looking more and more to US style financing techniques. He will be a key and welcome addition to the team.”

The appointment of Kolacki follows shortly after those of Vincent Keaveny and Mark Dwyer to the financial markets team in London, also part of the finance and projects group.

Philip Butler, global co-chair of the financial services sector at DLA Piper, commented: “The addition of Andy is another strategic step that continues the growth of our offering in the Financial Services arena. Our ambition is to continue building a market leading finance practice in London, further strengthening our capabilities in the sector globally.”
