FS Investments has secured the appointment of managing director Steve DeAngelis from Goldman Sachs.
DeAngelis joins the firm as executive vice president and head of distribution as the firm aims to expand its investment strategies and increase its advisory services.
“He has had a long and impressive career in financial services, both as a sales leader and business builder,” said Michael Forman, chief executive of FS Investments.
Before joining the investment firm, DeAngelis served as head of US advisor solutions at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he was required to distribute the firm’s investment products to investors and manage relationships with existing clients. Prior to this, he founded ADVISORport, a web-based platform covering account services, and worked at Delaware Capital Management.
“FS Investments has brought an impressive line-up of investments to the industry, with more solutions in the pipeline,” De Angelis said.
Established in 2007, FS Investments is headquartered in Philadelphia, but has offices in Orlando and Washington, DC. As of 30 June, it has $18 billion of assets under management.
Earlier this month, FS Investments backed Morgan Stanley’s private equity investment in Cadence Education, an early childhood education provider, with a $120 million senior secured unitranche loan. More recently, the investment firm took a majority stake in Warren Resources, an oil and gas property developer, following its chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding.
