Robert Stark has been hired by FS Investments as senior managing director of corporate development.
He was brought on board in November, according to a press release released by the firm, and his primary responsibilities are to ensure the execution of FS Investments’ strategy and to work on its expansion into new sales channels both in the US and abroad.
Stark was formerly at JP Morgan, where he headed the firm’s response to a Department of Labor Fiduciary Rule Program. Prior to that, he was the head of global strategic relationships for US-based funds at the investment banking firm.
In his new role at FS Investments, Stark will navigate through a period of growth comprised of new partnerships and the launching of new products, a source familiar with the situation told Private Debt Investor. The source added that Stark will be involved with making new client relationships and will also focus on the development of new product offerings.
The firm declined to comment.
Stark will split his time between the Philadelphia headquarters and the firm’s New York office, and will also join the firm’s executive committee.
FS Investments invests across a variety of business development companies and vehicles that are partnered with credit powerhouses, such as KKR and Rialto. Stark will be working with all the different vehicles, the source said.
FS Investments is a global asset management firm focused on alternative assets. It was founded in 2007 and was formerly known as Franklin Square Capital Partners. The firm has more than $24 billion in assets under management.
