Goodhart launches platform to invest in private debt and equity managers

The investor in boutique fund managers is looking to focus on private markets specialists, including debt managers.

Goodhart Partners is launching a platform to acquire minority stakes in private capital investment managers, focusing on private equity and private debt firms.

The platform, called Volunteer Park Capital, aims to make several investments in North America and Europe. It will focus on mid-market debt and equity managers in private markets but will also look for opportunities in distressed debt, infrastructure, real assets and secondaries.

The capital will be focused on financing GP commitments, funding growth of management companies and facilitating generational transfers.

Goodhart portfolio manager, Michael Daley, said: “There are a great number of quality firms that don’t get the attention of the larger capital providers in the space. We think these firms can deliver superior results to both their LPs and their equity partners.”

Goodhart was founded in 2009 in London and partners with boutique investment teams to provide capital, operational and regulatory infrastructure and distribution services.

It provides firms it invests in with access to a European fund and regulatory platform with distribution to help US investors that face challenges attracting European institutional investors.
