Highbridge lures Fortress exec

The US manager has continued the build-out of its European Principal Strategies debt team with the hire of Jon Ashley.

Highbridge Capital Management has hired Jon Ashley from Fortress Investment Group to bolster its European private debt team.

Ashley joins as a portfolio manager within Highbridge’s Principal Strategies platform, tasked with investing in public and private non-investment grade debt.

While the firm could not be reached for comment by press time, Ashley’s LinkedIn profile confirms the move to Highbridge from Fortress.

Highbridge has been building out its European team in recent months, bringing  on board John Aylward from Claren Road Asset Management to head up its credit strategy in Europe. In a further sign that its focus is shifting to Europe, the firm’s head of global investment strategy, Kevin McNamara, moved to London earlier this year.

Highbridge manages a $3 billion direct lending fund via the Principal Strategies platform, as well as hedge funds run under the Highbridge Capital Management banner.Â
