Houlihan Lokey has hired Anthony Martino and Gregg Newman from Sagent Advisors, the firm announced in a statement Thursday.
The pair will join Houlihan Lokey’s New York office in November as managing directors within the bank’s capital markets group. The duo will specialise in deal origination and execution.
Newman and Martino had been the co-heads of Sagent’s Alternative Capital Markets Group. Prior to that, they led UBS’ alternative capital markets practice, according to a release.
With the addition of Newman and Martino, Houlihan Lokey now has six managing directors within its capital markets group.
“These hires represent a meaningful expansion of our origination and execution capabilities, and both Anthony and Gregg bring a wealth of product knowledge in providing customized financing solutions to our capital markets clients,” said the bank’s co-chairman Bob Hotz in a statement. “They have a longstanding working relationship and track record of success, and we’re delighted that they are joining Houlihan Lokey.”
Last month, Houlihan Lokey expanded its secondary advisory business with the formation of an illiquid financial asset practice. The bank hired Colony Capital managing director Dilip Awtani for its London office as part of the expansion.
