ICG adds to North American distribution team

Chris Austin has been appointed to the new role of global head of consultant relations. He will also have a special focus on distributing liquid credit strategies.

Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) has hired Chris Austin in its North American distribution team in New York. Austin will expand ICG’s overall coverage of North American investors across the product spectrum. He will also have particular responsibility for selling liquid credit strategies globally, as well as become the global head of consultant relations, the firm said in a statement. Austin joins in a newly created position, an ICG spokeswoman told PDI.

Austin comes from Standish, the Boston-based fixed-income investment manager, where for the last seven years he has been head of US sales and global consultant relations. Prior to this role, he was the head of consultant relations at Standish since 2003. Austin began his career at Mercer Investment Consulting, where he was a senior research analyst in the manager research group in Chicago, before moving to Boston-based State Street Research, where he managed the firm’s consultant relations team in the US.

Austin joins ICG’s existing global sales team, which has 13 people on it, and will be the third North America distribution director, alongside Lisa Chaves and Phil Cothern, who are also based in New York.

ICG is headquartered in London and runs a variety of private and public credit strategies across Europe, Asia and the US. The firm has €18 billion in assets under management and is listed on the London Stock Exchange under ticker symbol “ICP.”
