Idinvest takes on two investment directors

Both new hires joined in March and boost the private debt and venture capital teams.

Idinvest Partners has hired a new investment director for its private debt team. Verena Romero Frychel (pictured), who has worked at BNP Paribas and Goldman Sachs, is helping to source, analyse and execute mezzanine, unitranche and senior loan deals at the Paris-based firm.

She is joined by Guillaume Durao, an investment director for Idinvest’s venture capital and growth team. The pair both joined in March.

Romero Frychel’s most recent role was restructuring a family business in Mexico. Before that she spent two years in BNP Paribas’ media and telecom finance team in Paris following a two-year stint on Goldman Sachs’ London-based leveraged finance team.

She has also worked at Commerzbank, Bankinter, Sal Oppenheim and Deutsche Bank.

Durao is focused on digital venture and growth investments in France as well as across Europe. He joined from early-stage venture capital firm Mangrove Capital Partners where he led investments in Germany, Israel, Russia and the UK.

His previous roles include investment banking experience in Credit Agricole’s corporate finance department and a stint at telecoms specialist Bryan, Garnier & Co.

Idinvest, which became independent from Allianz Global Investors in 2010, has €5 billion of assets under management. In June, the firm closed on its third mezzanine fund, Idinvest Private Debt III, on €400 million, exceeding the hard-cap of €350 million.
