Kartesia hires ex-Santander director to lead UK senior investment

The hire gives Kartesia’s senior debt vehicle a local presence in all its target markets across Europe.

Pan-European lender Kartesia has hired former Santander director Nick Holman to lead investment in the UK for its senior debt fund.

Holman will take responsibility for origination, execution and monitoring of investments in the UK from the Kartesia Senior Opportunities I vehicle, which closed on €500 million and made its first investment in mid-2019.

He joins from Santander where he was a director in its structured finance team and prior to that worked for Lloyds Banking Group’s leveraged finance and syndication departments. He has experience working on a range of European leveraged and high yield transactions for large and mid-market sponsors.

The hire means KSO I has on-the-ground representation in its key markets in Benelux, DACH, France, Spain and the UK, with Javier Castillo, Charles-Henri Clappier and Thomas Poehler making up the remainder of the senior team.

KSO I will target investments of between €10 million and €50 million and has already committed €250 million across seven investments.
