European SME lender Kartesia has hired Giuseppe Mirante to head up its expansion in the German-speaking markets.
Mirante will take the role of head of credit opportunities for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, based in the firm’s Frankfurt office. He will take responsibility for origination, analysis and execution of deals in the DACH countries.
He joins Kartesia from HIG Bayside, the credit investment arm of HIG Capital, where he was a managing director. He has also worked as head of distressed and loan research at BNP Paribas in London as well as holding roles at Morgan Stanley, Rhône Capital, Citibank and Goldman Sachs. Mirante has 25 years of experience in financial services, 19 of which were in private equity and credit investing.
Kartesia has been investing in the DACH region since 2011 and its funds have a target to invest 10 percent to 15 percent of their capital in the area. The firm will also open a second German office in Munich later this year.
The firm closed its fourth credit fund in October 2017 at €870 million, which was approximately 70 percent larger than its predecessor fund.
