La Française Global Investment Solutions has appointed Michael Hattab-Maruani as senior credit portfolio manager.
Hattab-Maruani will be based in Paris. His hiring is timed to coincide with the launch of a UCITS credit vehicle by the firm. La Française GIS declined to comment on the size of the fund.
Hattab-Maruani joins the team which manages La Française GIS’ flagship credit opportunities strategy. The manager has a credit strategies platform of around €260 million as of 28 September 2015.
Hattab-Maruani was formerly head of US credit equity proprietary trading desk at BNP Paribas from 2011 to 2014, having worked previously as a senior correlation trader at Société Générale.
Renaud Champion, head of credit strategies at La Française GIS, commented: “Michael has worked with several members of the La Française GIS team previously, so we are delighted that someone of his calibre has chosen to join us. His expertise, technical skills and cross-asset credit-equity experience will strengthen our multi-strategy credit program which invests dynamically across a broad range of assets and strategies for an all-weather approach.”
La Française GIS is a $4.2 billion investment solutions provider. The firm’s credit opportunities strategy has produced annualised returns of 12 percent since inception in 2013, as of 31 August 2015, the firm said.
Prior to his role at BNP Paribas, Hattab-Maruani was responsible for the correlation book at Société Générale from 2005 to 2011.
“Michael’s background demonstrates our belief that combining complementary investment banking and asset management expertise enables La Française GIS to deliver innovative, long-term investment solutions to clients and we aim to build on this successful track record going forwards,” Champion said.
