European mid-market firm Nova Capital Management has appointed Mike Nevin as an investment partner, according to a statement.
Nevin was previously chief financial officer of sports company Hi-Tec Sports Group and he started his career at accountant Deloitte. He later worked in transaction services at accountant PriceWaterhouseCoopers. In 2000 he joined UBS Private Equity, where he worked on mid-market European transactions for five years as an investment director.
He will initially manage Nova’s investment in laboratory equipment company Barloworld Scientific Laboratory Group of businesses, which it acquired from parent Barloworld in a £75 million (€99 million; $149.3 million) transaction last year.
In December last year Adam Robson joined Nova as an operating partner.
The European mid-market continues to recruit as deals are struck despite the problems in the global credit markets.
Earlier this month mid-market rival August Equity recruited David Lonsdale to its investment team from Rupert Murdoch-owned broadcasting company British Sky Broadcasting.
