NYSTRS approves $200m commitment

The US public pension has backed Orion Energy Partners' second credit opportunities fund.

New York State Teachers’ Retirement System has agreed to commit $200 million to Orion Energy Credit Opportunities II, according to the pension’s October Board meeting minutes. NYSTRS previously committed $100 million to the fund’s 2016-vintage predecessor.

The $121.80 billion US public pension has a 1.0 percent target allocation to private debt that currently stands at 0.40 percent.

As illustrated below, NYSTRS has made six commitments to private debt funds with a 2018 or 2019 vintage, which combined constitute $747 million.
