Pemberton boosts loan sourcing team

L&G-backed Pemberton has hired two former bankers to focus on origination.

Mid-market lender Pemberton has hired two loan market veterans, Thomas Duetoft and John Doyle, to deepen its loan origination capability, the firm announced in a statement.

Duetoft (pictured) has more than 20 years’ experience of loan sourcing and distribution in Europe at Citibank, Dresdner Kleinwort Wassertein and Royal Bank of Scotland. Duetoft spent five years at Dresdner, where he created and led its loan sales and trading business. In 2006, he joined RBS in a similar role. Following a two year stint in Singapore, he returned to the company’s London office to become head of loan sales and sourcing in 2010, identifying sellers of underperforming assets.

As head of origination, Duetoft will lead Pemberton’s investment sourcing team across Europe, which is focused in particular on the UK, Germany, France, Benelux, Italy and Spain.

Doyle has been hired as head of origination for UK and Ireland. He joins from Siemens Bank, where he headed the European leveraged finance platform, underwriting loans for mid-market companies. Doyle brings more than 18 years’ experience of European and US mid-market loan origination and corporate credit activity.

“The mid-market is crying out for an additional source of credit to support the banks… we know we offer a very attractive financing option. Working alongside their existing banks, we can connect [businesses] with the institutional, long-term funding that they require,” Doyle said in the statement.

Symon Drake-Brockman, managing partner of Pemberton, said in the statement: “The arrival of Thomas and John significantly deepens Pemberton’s capability to originate quality loan opportunities in the European mid-market sector. Thomas and John have extensive relationships with companies, banks and other intermediaries across Europe as well as great expertise in understanding businesses and assessing credit.”

Pemberton is backed by UK insurer Legal and General.
