In the first three quarters of 2015, the amount raised for private debt closed-ended vehicles has already surpassed fundraising levels for the whole of 2014 by more than $10 billion. With $90.72 billion amassed from institutional investors across 114 funds during the first nine months of the year, there is a clear trend towards capital consolidation when compared to the £80.62 billion raised from 122 vehicles in 2014.
In this report, PDI examines the geographical focus of the capital that has been raised and identifies the largest funds closed in Q3 2015. We also undertake analysis to determine the future of the asset class and how much capital is being raised for each investment strategy.
Also in this report, Richard Brandweiner, Chief Investment Officer at Australian firm First State Super, offers his views on the private debt market as at Q3 2015 and compares investment performance to other alternative asset classes. He also discusses the regulatory concerns facing the sector and gives his insight into the factors that affect an investor’s choice of GP.
