Australia-based infrastructure debt group Rearden Capital has appointed Ben Stewart as head of infrastructure finance.
Stewart, who will begin work on 1 April this year, joins from ANZ Bank where he was head of infrastructure and utilities. Prior to that, he worked at Westpac and Hastings Fund Management.
His arrival follows the appointment in December of new board members at Rearden.
Rearden chief executive Vaughan Busby said in a statement: “Rearden Capital’s goal is to become Australia’s leading fund manager of infrastructure debt. Hiring someone of Ben’s calibre and experience is a significant step along that path”.
“Infrastructure debt is a new asset class for many superfunds, Ben’s deep experience spanning more than 20 years in project finance, will be an asset for superfunds investing with Rearden. It will also give Rearden a presence in Melbourne.”
