UBS has promoted Simona Maellare (pictured) to global co-head of financial sponsors. She is based in London and will work with Matt Eilers who has joined from Morgan Stanley to take the other co-head role. Eilers will be based in New York, according to a memo from the bank.
Eilers was most recently a senior managing director in Morgan Stanley’s financial sponsors group. He will lead the Americas financial sponsors team at UBS.
Maellare joined UBS from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and was already co-head of the EMEA financial sponsor group.
Eilers will replace Matthew Stopnik, who left his role as head of the Americas unit at UBS last year to join Royal Bank of Canada as joint head of financial sponsors. While the bank was recruiting for the role, Brendan Dillon, global co-head of leveraged finance at UBS was acting as head of the Americas financial sponsors group.
