Victory Park Capital (VPC) has hired Zhengyuan Lu from his executive post at the online small business lender OnDeck, the firm said Monday.
As a principal, Lu will be responsible for sourcing, analysing, and managing direct private debt and equity investments. Lu will be based in VPC’s New York office.
While at OnDeck, Lu was a senior vice president and head of capital markets, a position in which he spearheaded all capital markets and fundraising activities. He also managed the firm’s crowdfunding platform and treasury department and was a member of the company’s executive committee.
Prior to OnDeck, Lu was a managing director and head of the asset financing group at the investment firm Gleacher & Company, where he was responsible for origination and financing.
Before joining Gleacher, Lu was a managing director and head of structured products group at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (now Stifel Financial) and a senior vice president and executive director with Fortis Bank and WestLB AG. Lu holds a BA in economics and computer science from Middlebury College.
In February, the firm hired Upacala Mapatuna, a former Goldman Sachs managing director and member of the alternative Investments and manager selection group, from the New York-based investment bank to become VPC’s first chief investment officer.
VPC is a mid-market focused investment firm with investors that include asset management firms, pension plans, and endowments and has $3.50 billion in assets under management, according to PDI data.
