Hermes expanding private debt team – exclusive

Laura Vaughan of GE Capital and Bank of Ireland’s Joseph Buckley are joining Patrick Marshall’s growing unit.

Hermes Private Debt is expanding with a number of hires and more expected, PDI understands.

Laura Vaughan, who was recently hired as a director from GE Capital, will be joined in January by Joseph Buckley of Bank of Ireland’s leveraged finance acquisition group.

Vaughan spent just over a year in the leveraged finance team at GE Capital and formerly worked in the acquisition finance group at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and at Irish lender AIB, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Buckley, who has also been as a director, could not be contacted for comment ahead of publication, but Bank of Ireland confirmed that he had left the London-based acquisition finance group. Buckley spent nine years working for the bank, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In July, Hermes announced that it had hired Patrick Marshall to head a new private debt and CLO team. Marshall joined from Tikehau Investment Management where he was a member of the management committee and responsible for developing the firm’s direct-lending activities in the UK.

Marshall and his team are responsible for growing Hermes Investment Management’s business in the leveraged loan, private debt and CLO markets in the UK, as well as across Europe and globally.

Hermes Investment Management had £29.5 billion ($44 billion; €41.8 billion) assets under management and £146.6 billion in assets under advice, as of 30 September.
