Credit fund manager Pemberton Asset Management has opened an Amsterdam office to explore investment opportunities in the Benelux region.
The new office will be headed by Boris Harmsen, who has been appointed to the role of managing director and head of Benelux.
Harmsen has 12 years of experience in debt finance, most recently working at IKB Deutsche Industriebank where he was head of Benelux leveraged finance and sponsor coverage. He previously spent time at Egeria, Deutsche Bank and ABN AMRO.
Pemberton said the new office had been opened due to growing opportunities to invest in debt in the Benelux countries and to reinforce the firm’s relationship with local borrowers.
Commenting on his appointment, Harmsen said: “The Benelux region continues to show strong investment activity and the share of direct lending opportunities is increasing.
“With its prominent institutional backing, one of the most experienced teams in the industry and a highly sophisticated direct lending offer, there is a significant opportunity for Pemberton to build on its success in the Netherlands and in the wider Benelux region.”
Pemberton has made several investments in Benelux, most recently acting as sole lender to support the acquisition of European online tour operator Sunweb.
