Renshaw Bay makes real estate finance team hire

The debt provider has hired an origination expert from UK bank, Lloyds.

Renshaw Bay has made another addition to its real estate finance team, hiring Mark Coomber from Lloyds Bank, PDI sister title, Real Estate Capital reported.

Coomber is an experienced originator who worked in the Lloyds’ mid-market commercial real estate finance business and previously worked at Deutsche Bank.

He is expected to join the debt investment manager within the next two months.

Renshaw Bay’s real estate finance business is headed by Jon Rickert. Coomber will work with Martin Farinola and the rest of the origination team sourcing loans for the Renshaw Bay Real Estate Finance Fund, as well as separate account client Guardian Financial Services which invests in fixed-rate senior loans.

Last month, Renshaw held a final close for the fund, which has been investing since late 2012, on £356 million ($529 million; €485 million) of committed equity. The fund deploys capital into higher-yielding loans, mainly in the UK and Germany. It makes whole loans and sells on lower-yielding senior and lends across most asset classes.

It has made 14 loans and invested £179 million of capital. Coomber will bring the size of the team to 11 people.
