VIDEO: Arranging the relationships

When a private credit manager is the lead arranger in a transaction, it gives the firm a level of control and compensation it would otherwise not receive, Garrett Ryan, a partner and head of capital markets at Twin Brook Capital Partners, says.

As an alternative lender takes control of a deal through being the lead arranger, the firm will often counsel the private equity sponsor on add-on acquisitions and other investment matters, which allows the bond to deepen between the two firms, according to Garrett Ryan, a partner and head of capital markets at Twin Brook Capital Partners.
